Step By Step Procedure to Prepare Prawns Curry

Recipe of Prawn Curry:

  1. Fry the onions in a pan or skillet in oil till they turn pink or brownish.
  2. Add garlic paste in the mixture as per your taste.
  3. Add some chopped tomatoes, turmeric and salt as per your taste in the onion mixture.
  4. Fry the whole mixture continuously till it turns mushy.
  5. Don’t forget to add garam masala, coriander powder, chilli powder and coconut pieces. 
  6. You can use frozen coconut or cashew nuts to add extra flavors.
  7. Roast and fry your mixture for about 5 to 7 minutes.
  8. Make sure that you won’t overcook or overheat your mixture otherwise the whole dish will become bland.
  9. When the mixture starts cooling down, add ¾ cup of water to make it smooth. 
  10. Set the mixture aside for some time.
  11. Now take the separate skillet and add cumin, green chili, garlic in the oil, and heat them properly.
  12. Roast the garlic and curry leaves till they become crispy.
  13. Add the onion-tomato mixture and water or coconut/milk as needed to make the dish more delicious. 
  14. Cook the gravy properly until it becomes thick and traces of oil start popping up. 
  15. Now add the main ingredient prawns and simmer them properly. 
  16. Don’t overcook the dish and make sure you turn off the pan after some period of time.
  17. Add or sprinkle chopped coriander leaves.
  18. Your prawn curry is ready to serve with rice, roti or chapati.

  1. Choose your prawns wisely, they should have shell on their outer side since they are considered fresh.
  2. Don’t use prawns that have a bad or fishy smell.

  4. Don’t buy prawns that are slimy or limp since they are considered not fresh and decay.
  5. Always look out for prawns that are white or grey in color. There are also brown prawns that should be brownish in color.
  6. Check the prawns carefully because sometimes there are black spots on them.
